Our House.....In The Middle of Our Woods

Subtitle: Going Home!

This is our house in Shutesbury, Massachusetts which we left almost 3 years ago.....we were only supposed to be gone for 9 months but we got side-tracked along the way by the offer of a good teaching job (for my husband).....however........we have not settled into our life in Fresno and have pined for this house in the woods and the wonderful community surrounding it......so for the sake of a happy family (and believe me this makes us all so happy) we have decided to move back to Western Mass this summer!
Thankfully we never sold the house.

(Yes it may seem crazy to some to actually give up employment in this current job loss climate....but David already has a job that he wants to now devote all his time to.....he's a successful international author.....)

WEBS will once again be my local yarn store...hooray!

Bittersweet for Josie and me...we are SO happy for all of you and wish you the VERY best, always. As much as you can't wait to get to Western Mass, we will be dreading your departure.

Your house in the woods looks SO inviting & the space surrounding appears so peaceful. It will be good to picture all of you settling into your home---much deserved after 3 years of feeling unsettled.

I totally understand and just lived this myself. We just moved back to New England after being away for 6 years. It's a major transition but one worth the hassle. So in the last 10 years it's been MA-CT-Iowa-now back to Maine. Maybe I'll see you at some of the festivals sometime.

Good luck with your journey, and congrats!

So happy for you all Gudrun (your husband too - how exciting to devote all his time to writing!) - this looks like such a wonderful spot, reminds me an awful lot of where I grew up in NH, I miss it an awful lot.

How wonderful that you and your family can return to a place you all love and that your husband can devote all of his time to writing. Your house is absolutely gorgeous! And, gosh, I'd move there in a heartbeat simply for its proximity to Webs. :)

What a cool, damp, green haven it must look right now.

EEEKS! That is so exciting. I am so impressed and yeah, I wish it was me moving to the house in the woods. It is sublime. I wish I could make money blogging and not have to work :) Now THAT would be uber-sublime!

Shutesbury isn't far from us. We live in northeastern CT. I love this little house in the woods. I lived in Shetland 30 years ago and learned to play fiddle there with Tom Anderson...my husband and I even got married in Ullapool (we're both American). By the way...I love your haircut..I wish I was brave enough to cut off all my hair. Good luck with your move.

What a lovely spot. I'd give up a lot for a house in the woods, I think. Very exciting!

Congrats!

Massachusetts is a much better place for a knitter than Central California. :)

Try to experience the orange blossoms before you leave, though. They should be blooming soon.
