Driving back from Lerwick at 3:30pm....sun about to dip below the horizon.
"Ling"-Scottish term for heather.
"Linga"- means heather covered island and is to be the name for this beret which uses the same Shetland lace pattern as my Vaila sweater. Vaila and Linga are islands that lie next to one another on the Wastside of Shetland.

Beautiful beret! And I love the photos!
What an inspiration - I've always wanted to live near the ocean. I live, and always have, in the center of the North American continent...not so much ocean here. I love the pictures.
The beret looks like a great pattern, can't wait to look a little more closely!
beautiful photos. and i LOVE the beret.
Hello! My first visit here...your blog is beautiful! And so is your knitting! I'm an American ex-pat living in Norway. "Lyng" is the word for heather here...very similar. Your beret is just the thing for walking among the linga...Happy Days :o)
Stunning shots, wow. And I love the beret, too :)
Great beret, and great pictures! How funny about the word ling/lyng! as
Tracy said, lyng is Norwegian, and I guess there are many similarities between Scottish and Norwegian. After all, your name is Nordic too:-)
Sensory beret overload! Love it!
Counting the days...
Beautiful photos and great beret.
I'm so in love with the pictures you share with us, the land of my ancestors! I adore the hat!!! When will the pattern be ready? It's just beautiful!
Every time I read your blog I just want to jump in the car and drive northward. Beautiful.
Ruby xx
