Designer Of The Month

No..it's not an award I've received!!....after having so much fun knitting Norah's Anais I've decided to knit something each month from a designer I admire.

I'm sure this will be a great learning curve for me as I try and expand on my design skills.... it also allows me to switch my brain off a little ....and I get to add to my knitted wardrobe which is sadly lacking as I give away so much of what I knit!

So Norah was April and May is going to be Ysolda!
I have knit one of her toys before but not a garment. I've admired Coraline for a while now and I had the impulse to use my stash of leftover black Hempathy to make a cropped version of this cardi.
....yes black...even when Fresno will be hitting the 100's this week temp-wise.....there is some sense to this though as I'm going to be living in Shetland for 3 months as of August!! ....more on that later.

Here is my Coraline progress so far:(that's water btw.....)
....and just to include some colour...here is Maya's latest original artwork....

PS: Also working on a design for knitonthenet in Habu silk ........that stuff is gorgeous!

LOVE the artwork. I can see textile design beckoning as a career. It would make a wonderful embroidered piece.

I agree Habu is wonderful. So looking forward to seeing your design. I have some A-4 silk just sitting waiting!

love Ruby xx

Yeah, Maya is super talented! I like your designer idea. I'm planning a little project of my own for the coming months, No Dud Duds! More soon on the blog...

I like your designer idea.

And Maya's artwork is so intricate. You have such an artistic child. Takes after her mother I guess! :)

That's a beautiful drawing by Maya - so detailed and colourful - she's an amazing young artist. Good to idea to get some warm knits under your belt before your trip to Shetland!

hello Gudrun,
thanks for stopping by my wee little blog and leaving a comment.
by the way, i took a peek at your daughter's art work. it is so full of magic. just out of curiosity, do you do any art lessons with her? or do you just give her ample opportunities to draw and paint?
i ask because my 5 year old is really developing his artistic skills and i just wonder if i should do more for/with him or just let him explore it on his own.

I think this is such a great idea - there are a handful of designers that I adore but have yet to knit one of their patterns.

So looking forward to your Habu design, and Maya's artwork is incredible - what a talented girl!!
