I started this shawl before I left California and finished it up last night here in Shetland. I decided to rename it the Twite-Tail shawl after the wee swallow-like birds that have been sitting on the telephone wire outside my parent's house. I thought I might have to abandon this once I reached the nubb-knitting part....purl 5 together was proving a big pain in the butt......BUT.....thanks to good old Ravelry I found something that worked spiffingly.....moving the knitting down to the wire of my circular needle for the p5tog...brilliant! This is going to my lovely sister-in-law for her birthday next week.
Meet Slither and Hiss, a happily adopted pair of snakes that entered our household this week!
This little lad spied this snake pattern over my shoulder whilst I was visiting Kat Coyle's blog. I left a comment to let her know my son admired her snakes and this led to me getting to test knit the pattern....and make my son VERY happy......then his sister needed to be made VERY happy too!
......although she tends to look quite serious in photos......must take after mum!!
I was born in Shetland, but grew up all over Scotland. I now live with my novel- writing husband (David Anthony Durham) and two kids in the woods of Western Massachusetts!
